Düsseldorf Tournament & Belgiun Kendo “Kyu” Championships 2015

The weekend of 7th and 8th of November was a busy one this year! Our members had to travel a lot, first to Germany, Düsseldorf for the Junior tournament hosted by the local club and the next day to Ghent (Mariakerke) to join the Belgium Kendo “Kyu” Championships. Our members did very well at both events as you can see the dojo results hereunder:

7 Nov – The 23rd Dusseldorf Cup

Cat A ; without Bogu  (6-8 years)      Kurogi Sae – 2nd

Cat C : with Bogu Individual (6-9 Years)    Spaepen Mattia – 1st / Boffa Takeshi – 2nd / Vandenheuvel Lum – 3rd

Cat E : with Bogu individual (14-18 years) Takagi Toma – 3rd

Team 5 persons : Toshiro, Constantin, Kota and Toma – 2nd

8 Nov – Kyu Championships Belgium 2015

Cat A : without Bogu (5 – 9 years)    Spaepen Mattia – 1st / Boffa Takeshi – 2nd / Mihara Yuuna – 3rd / Kurogi Sae – Fighting Spirit

Cat B : without Bogu (10 – 13 years)  Panzani Kaori – 1st / Levan Alexandre – 2nd + Fighting Spirit / Onodera Mami – 3rd

Cat E : with Bogu (- 13 years)   Levan Constantin – 2nd / Panzani Toshiro – 3rd / Matsumoto Shunya – 3rd

At the end of the 8th of November, four of our members joined also the grading session for ikkyu (1st kyu) in Kendo. All four succeed, congratulations to Shunya, Toshiro, Mika and Constantin!

Visit of WKN founder – Maruyama sensei

On wednesday November 4th, we had the opportunity to meet the driving force behind the “World Kendo Network” group on facebook, MARUYAMA sensei, renshi 7th dan at our dojo. Since the visit was during school holydays, not all members could join but those who did enjoyed the practice.

2015 Dojo BBQ

This sunday, the 11th season of Wakakoma Kenshikai came to its end with a nice BBQ. Not all members had the opportunity to join, but those who did enjoyed a lot… isn’t it?

New 7th dan in our dojo

Dany Delepière succeed in 7th dan Kendo at the end of his travel in Japan as delegation leader for the Belgian delegation who took part in the 16th World Kendo Championships. This makes that our dojo has now 3 persons who are 7th dan Kendo…

Big congratulations for his achievement! Our BBQ at the end of this month will have a special celebration flavour!

Kojika Spring Tournament 2015

Last Saturday, May 2nd, 155 young kenshi coming from allover 8 European countries joined Ghent to take part in the 23rd Kojika Spring Tournament. Wakakoma Kenshikai took part as well and had some very nice results:

Belgian “Dan” Kendo Championships 2015

Last sunday, March 22nd in Sint Niklaas we had the annual Kendo Tournament for “Dan” holders. Our dojo took part as usual in the event and this year (again) the results were not that bad…

– Junior category: Toma Takagi, 3rd place and Fighting Spirit award

– Ladies category: Terue Matsui, 3rd place

– Men category: Yusuke Nakamura 2015 Champion and Shinichi Nishikubo, 3rd place

– Team competition: 2nd place

After the tournament, shinsa was organised by the Federation and our friend Nishikubo succeed for 4th dan.

Congratulations to the winners and thanks a lot for the support to all members who spend some of their time with us!
