Brussel's Kendo Club
On the weekend of Jan 31st and Feb 1st at ADEPS (Brussels), Kurogi and Hendrickx sensei took part in the annual referee seminar for kendo which is organized to prepare referees for upcoming EKF (European Kendo Federation) events.
At the end of this seminar, several of members took part in the organized “dan” promotion exams. This year, Kota Kurogi succeed shodan and Toma Takagi succeed Nidan.

Yesterday, January 12th, we received the very sad news that Terry HOLT sensei from Mumeishi passed away.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude for his regular contribution to kendo. His connection to our country was kendo-related and family-related. Whenever he visited his relatives in Belgium, he used the chance to visit his Belgian kendo friends. His dojo “Mumeishi” has been a model for building our own dojo and we could rely on his enthusiastic support for many organised events.
Our heart will be with him in our next keiko.
December was once again the moment for the ABKF Winterseminar and Nakakura Cup. Among our members, a large number of them attend the proposed seminar. Several members took part in the competitions (ladies, team and open tournaments). Last but not least, Kenta Takagi succeed 3rd dan examination. Congratulations!

As usual, our dojo took part in the Youth tournament organised by the Düsseldorf Kendo Club in November. For some of the members, it was their first attendance to a tournament, for others another step in their kendo experience. Everybody enjoyed taking part in this yearly returning event!
This year, ABKF organized the annual “kyu” tournament at VUB, our training address on November 2nd. About 18 of our members took part in different categories. Many of them got very nice results. Senior members and parents were also active as tournament helpers (kakari-in), coaches and referees. Pictures are available at this moment on our facebook page only.

Last wednesday, we had the last (…) visit of Ivan Liu from Taiwan. He was a regular visitor during his short stay in our city. We wish him all the best for the future!

Last saturday, the regional federation organized for the third time in a row its referee seminar for kendo followed by their “Yudansha” tournament.
As in the past, Wakakoma was very well represented and won the tournament. Congratulations to all participants and let’s do even better at the coming ABKF National “Kyu” Championships!

Some of our members joined the Summer Seminars which were organized allover Europe (The Netherlands, Solovenia, Belgium). Let us hope that even more will join in the future…
